The freshman team whitewashed the Yale freshmen at New Haven Saturday afternoon before an audience of about three hundred students, whose cheers failed to rattle the one side or stimulate the other, for after the second inning not a single Yale man passed first base, and but one reached first. He was quickly thrown out at second.

Harvard outplayed Yale at every point. Howe and Upton played beautifully, Howe striking out sixteen men and giving but one base on balls. Harvard did not make an error after the second inning, nor did Yale after the third.

The absence of Owsley and Murphy was badly felt by Yale, although Fox covered short without an error and accepted several difficult chances. Every pitched a very fair game and deserved better support than he got from Jackson.

Hallowell started the game off by striking out, but Frothingham sent, the ball to right for two bases. Johnson's sacrifice sent him to third, where he was left, as Trafford filed out to Fox. Bliss struck out; Harvey who followed with a clean hit to left and was the only man on Yale's team able to find the ball. Trafford's misjudgment of Hallowell's throw-in sent Harvey to second, where he was left, as Jackson flied out to Hallowell and Every struck out.

In the second inning Upton was out, Fox to Jones. Harvey unluckily slipped, giving Souls a life at first; Jackson's passed ball gave him second, and Every's fumble of Stone's grounder third. Stone stole second. Manley hit to Jones, who tried to catch Soule off third, but a wild throw let both Stone and Soule cross the plate. Fox spoiled Howe's hit by a pretty play, and Hallowell flied to short.

For Yale, Hatch knocked the ball as far as Howe, who easily threw him out. Soule dropped Jones' easy pop fly, and Howe's poor throw of Merritt's grounder gave him second A pretty steal brought a Yale man to third for the only time. Lockett and Fox struck out.

Wild throws by Every and Bliss in the third inning gave Frothingham a chance to cross the plate though Johnson was thrown out at third. Trafford fouled out. Upton drove the ball to left for two bases, took third on a wild throw, but was left there as soule struck out. Flies to Johnson and Soule, and Jackson's strike out retired Yale.

In the sixth inning Upton got his base on balls, stole second, and crossed the plate on Stone's hit to right. Stone stole second, and made the only earned run of the game on Hallowell's hit to left. Yale went out in one, two, three order.

Frothingham led off the seventh with a pretty hit, stole second, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on Upton's single. Upton, however, was thrown out foolishly trying to take second.

Every struck out. Hatch got his base on balls, but was caught trying to steal second, and Jones struck out.

Harvard made her last run in the ninth from Hallowell's hit, a passed ball, Frothingham's sacrifice, and a wild pitch.

Bliss struck out. Harvey gave Soule a chance to assist, and Jackson struck out. The score:
