Base Ball.

Woven Hose 4; Harvard 2.

The game yesterday was very close but not very interesting; rain stopped it in the end of the eighth inning, when two of the visitors were out. Bates pitched and was a little wild, but was hit safely only at intervals. Howland made two brilliant running catches of balls hit far over his head, and Dean made a magnificent stop of a grounder and assist in the first.

Neither side scored in the first, though Howland and Trafford made hits in succession. In the second, a base on balls, McLaughlin's hit and Linn's wild throw-in gave Donovan a run. Mason scored by a base on balls, a steal and short's fumble of Frothingham's grounder.

In the second, two bases on balls and Carleton's hit sent Doyle in; and Dean tied the score again by a hit, a steal, Linn's sacrifice and an unsuccessful attempt to put him out at the plate when Howland hit to second.

In the fifth, Doyle hit safely, Smith hit a high fly to Upton, Carleton made a single, and Mason's muff of O'Brien's high fly let the two men in. No more runs were made. The score:
