Harvard 13; Hartford 19.The nine played a remarkably poor game yesterday afternoon, and was defeated by the Hartfords in the worst played contest seen on Holmes field during the year. The men ylayed with no life at all except at the bat, where they did fair work.

In the first inning with one out, Mann got first on balls, and stole second and third. Foster got his base on balls and stole second. Connell made a three-bagger to left and brought both men in. Walsh lined the ball out for another three base hit, and O'Connell came in. Smith and Moore struck out. For Harvard, Dean hit to right for two bases, and came in on Linn's hit. Linn took second on the throw in, third on Howland's hit, and stole home on the throw to second on Howland's steal. Howland came in on Alward's hit to centre.

In the second Howland made a beautiful running catch of Lyston's fly. Major got his first on Frothingham's error, second on Annis' hit, third on a passed ball, but was out at the plate. Annis hit safely, took second on a passed ball, and third on Major's out. Mann got first on the same play and stole second. Upton failed to stop Dean's throw to the plate, and Annis and Mann both scored.

Harvard failed to score in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

In the fourth inning Lyston got his base on balls, and stole second. Annis brought him in with a home run to left. Mann got his base on balls, stole second, took third on Foster's sacrifice, and scored on Smith's single.

In the fifth, with one out, Walsh hit safely, and stole second and third. He came in on Alward's muff of Upton's throw.

In the sixth Annis hit safely, stole second, and took third on a passed ball. Mann got his base on balls and stole second. Smith got four balls, and the bases were full. Alward's fumble of O'Connell's grounder let in Annis, and Walsh's hit brought in Mann and Smith. O'Connell scored on Moore's sacrifice.

Harvard scored nine runs in the seventy. Howland got first on four balls, second on a passed ball, third on Trafford's sacrifice, and home on Alward's hit. Alward stole second and third. Upton got his base on balls and stole second. Mason hit to left, bringing in both men. He took second on the throw-in, and stole third. Frothingham got his base on balls and stole second. Howe hit safely to centre and brought in two men. Howe took second on a wild pitch and came in on Linn's hit. Dean got his base on balls, second on Linn's hit, third on a steal, and home on Howland's hit. Linn took third on the hit, and home on Trafford's sacrifice fly. Howland made a twobagger, and came in on Alward's hit.

In the eighth, by a combination of hits, errors, and bases on balls, Hartford scored six runs. Harvard scored her last run in the eighth.
