Harvard and Brown played an exciting game at the Brown College grounds in Providence yesterday afternoon. There was a larger attendance than at any other game at the grounds this year, and the Brown supporters were uproariously enthusiastic. Neither side batted heavily, and thirteen out of the fourteen runs were unearned. Brown made several costly field errors, while Harvard's misplays at critical points were mostly made by Howe's wildness. He settled down later in the game, however, and although he gave far too many bases on balls, he pitched effectively when the bases were full.

Brown was first at the bat. Dowd made a two-bagger to left. Sexton got his base on balls; Dowd stole third, and Upton in trying to catch him overthrew and he scored. Sexton took second on the play, third on Woodcock's hit to right, and home on Messer's single to left. Woodcock stole second and came in on the same hit. Two more men got bases on balls but no one scored. For Harvard Dean hit safely to left, and took second on the fielder's fumble. He reached third on the hit by Linn, who stole second. Howland fouled out. Trafford made a good sacrifice and Dean scored, Linn going to third. Alward hit to third base, who fumbled, and Linn scored. Alward was caught napping at first.

In the second, with one man out, Sexton got his base on balls. Hovey hit safely to right, and Linn allowed the ball to get by him, Sexton taking third. Woodcock struck out but Upton dropped the third strike and Sexton scored while he threw to first. Harvard did not score for two innings, and Brown was blanked for three. In the fourth Trafford got his base on balls, Alward hit to pitcher, and the second base muffed the latter's throw to catch Trafford. A wild pitch advanced both men a base, and they came in on Upton's timely single to centre.

In the sixth Magill hit safely to right. He was put out on Dowd's attempted sacrifice. Dowd stole second and third, and scored on a wild pitch, putting Brown ahead again. For Harvard Trafford made a single to right and stole second. Alward got a base on balls, and both were advanced by Upton's sacrifice. Mason hit a low liner to the right-fielder, who muffed, and Trafford and Alward scored. Mason took second in the throw in and stole third. Howe's two-bagger to left brought him in.

In the seventh inning Harvard got her last run. The second baseman fumbled Howland's grounder, and the latter stole second, and took third on O'Rourke's wild throw. Trafford made a very opportune hit to centre and brought him in. In the eighth, with two men on bases, Hovey gave Soule a difficult chance which he did not accept; Hovey stole second and third and scored on a passed ball. The score:

'92, 9; '93, 5In spite of the cold weather yesterday the class game on Jarvis field was well played and interesting, being characterized by the heavy batting of the sophomores. In the first, Hallowell's three-bagger brought in a run which ninety-two failed to match. Again in the second the freshman scored one on Merriam's hit and steal and Carpenter's muff of Manly's sharp grounder. Cummin scored in this inning for ninety-two on a base on balls, a steal, and singles by Chase and Curtis. In the fourth Robb took first on player's choice, second on a steal, third on Watters' hit to right, and home on a wild pitch. For ninety-two Cook hit to centre for three bags, Spalding for one, and Neff for a home run. Ninety-three crawled up one in the next on Frothingham's hit and steal, a wild pitch and Hallowell's single, and in the seventh they tied the score on errors. With two men out in this inning, Chase, Cook and Carpenter knocked singles, and Spalding cleared the bases by a home run. This practically finished the game. Following is the score :
