The final game in the series between the upper classes was won by ninety in the most exciting game of the series yesterday. Both classes marched to the grounds with music and banners, and each appropriated a side of the field. During the game the waits were enlivened by music from the senior band and the junior orchestra.
Codman reached third in the first on a base on balls, a wild pitch, and a passed ball; Mumford's hit past short brought him home, and the band played "There's no Place Like Home," Mumford stole second and scored on Piper's hit. Luce made a run for ninety-one on a single, a passed ball, a steal and a wild pitch; and in the next inning Lee tied the score on a hit past third, a steal and McGinty's wild throw to catch him at third. In the next a hit and two bases on balls filled the bases; a ball passed Babbitt, and his wild throw to home to catch Mumford let in all three men. Austrian scored in the same inning by a scratch hit, two sacrifices and Guerin's hit, and the seniors increased their lead in the next by a missed third strike, a steal and a passed ball. In the sixth Guerin got a base on balls, Lee hit to McCoy, who was so near second when he threw that Faulkner missed it. Each man advanced a base by steals; Bowman's sacrifice sent Guerin home and Lee went home when no one was looking. In the eighth McGinty scored by a hit, a steal and McCoy's hit. In this inning ninety-one tied the score again on Piper's muff, Fitzhugh's double and singles by Bowman and Nichols. Ninety made three in the ninth on three singles aided by errors. Austrian got a hit and stole second; a missed third strike sent Simons to first and Austrian to third. Babbitt struck out. Guerin hit to Fanlkner and the umpire said it was out on the fly; Austrian scored while Faulkner ran to second in time to cut off Simons in a double play. The score:
