Dr. F. L. Burden, who died at his home in North Attleboro Sunday morning, graduated from the Harvard Medical school with honors in 1869. For many years he has been prominently identified with the Republican party of the state, having held the chairmanship of the republican state committee for three years.

The third thesis in Philosophy 11, on "The Labor Question," is due March 1st.

A number of men will enter for events in the athletic meeting at Yale next month.

If the weather continues warm the crew will probably go out on the river the latter part of this week.

Three men were dropped from the candidates for the freshman crew last Saturday. There are now sixteen men working.

There are two candidater for the coxswainship of the 'varsity crew, and two for the same position in the freshman boat.

There will be a recitation on Copper in Chemistry 1 next Thursday for the first section and Friday for the second section.

Brown will have a strong nine this year, including Woodcock, formerly of Dartmouth, and Sexton, formerly of Amherst as pitchers.

Mr. C. H. Davis, nephew of Professor Davis, will speak before the Electric club, Wednesday evening on Practical Electrical Engineering.

It is reasonably certain that the A. A. U. championship games will be held in Boston on April 12. The B. A. A. have secured the refusal of the Mechanics Fair building for that date.

The Johns Hopkins university celebrated its fourteenth anniversary last Saturday. Public exercises were held at which Acting President Remsen presided and made an address. The principal address was made by Professor E. C. Griffin, dean of the college faculty.
