There is some talk of uniting the Harvard, Yale and Princeton Southern Clubs in one solid fraternity, but no action has yet been taken in the matter.
The Columbia college men who will compete at the Boston games on February 15, are: Herbert Shipman 50 yard run and 220 yard run; Victor Mapes, 50 yards run and high jump; Herbert Mapes, 50 yard run and 220 yards hurdle race; H. Hambostel, one mile run; B. C. Hinman, putting the shot; F. C. Hooper, high jump; H. F. Welsh, pole vault and high jump; A. S. Vosburg, half-mile run.
The tug-of-war teams at Yale will hold a series of inter-class pulls beginning this week. Every effort will be made to develope some good material for the 'varsity team.
Justin Winsor, the librarian of Harvard university, delivered a very interesting lecture last week before the Political Science Association of the University of Michigan on "The Perils of Historical Narrative."
Beginning Monday all contestants for the long distance events in the B. A. A. games, will practice running beginning eight and nine o'clock in the evening, the time at which they will probably run in the games.
The candidates for the Yale nine practiced out of doors last week. Olmstead, L. S., has been doing some excellent work, and is looked upon as a promising candidate for short-stop. Bowers '93, is expected to do good work in the box; his record before entering college was very good.
Over 40 candidates are in training for the Exeter nine. The training consists of practice in batting, work at the weights, and a mile run. Games have been arranged with the following clubs: Princeton, Williams, Boston Athletic (two games), Prospects of Lawrence, Harvard, Yale, '93, Bowdoin, and Beacon.
