A large crowd assembled on Jarvis field yesterday afternoon to witness the last practice before Saturday's game. After some preliminary work the elevens lined up as follows: 'Varsity-rushers, Cumnock, Alward, Finlay, Cranston, P. Trafford, Newell, Hallow ll; quarter back, Dean; half-backs, Lake and Fearing; full-back, B. Trafford. Second eleven-rushers, Mason, Shea, Shaw, Bangs, Heard, Blanchard, Miller; quarter-back, Harding; half-backs, Lee, Sherwin, Blagden, Burgess; full-back, Frothingham.

Two half hours were played. The first eleven did the best work it has done this season. During the first half it did not make any difference whether the second eleven had the ball or not, the 'varsity shoved them over the field in every direction, and scored as it pleased. There was a marked improvement in team play, and the defensive work was better than anything seen on the field for a long time. The centre of the line did much better than it did on Tuesday; Finlay played an especially fine game, but Trafford and Cranston were not far behind him; the three men worked together with an encouraging unity. Newell played his usual strong game at tackle, and Hallowell helped him prevent any gains through the right end of the line. During the first half, however, the latter was off-side several times when the ball was kicked; he must be careful about this. Cumnock looked after the left end in almost faultless style. Alward played left tackle in the absence of Upton; he is strong at some points of the game, but very weak at others. The men back of the line did effective work; there was a confusion of the signals once or twice, but otherwise their play left nothing to be desired. In the second half Mason played end on the 'varsity instead of Cumnock, and Crosby was put in opposite him; Mason is doing the best work of any of the substitute ends. Lee and Sherwin played at half-back instead of Lake and Fearing. Both did some beautiful rushing, and the latter was cheered when compelled to leave the field on account of having hurt his lame knee. Blanchard and Harding played well for the second eleven. The team as a whole, however, did not do as good work as on Tuesday, when it held the 'varsity very well, Corbett did not play again yesterday, though he was on the field.
