The report of the financial condition of the Co-operative Society shows that the past year has been a success. The amount of money which is used during a year's business is becoming very large, and makes clear how much the department is patronized. We consider that the change in the proportion of the net profits, which will be devoted to dividends, is advisable. It is not right that a business of such large and increasing proportions, should be obliged o work on a capital unnecessarily restricted. It may make a slight deduction fro each man's dividend, but no one ough complain. It will be observed that the business of this year is over twenty five hundred dollars greater than for the corresponding period last year, a fact which is due to more efficient superintendence, and a competent man in charge of the book department.
