On Norton's field yesterday afternoon the seniors beat the juniors by a score of 10 to 0. The seniors had the heavier team and used their rush line to very good effect. The junior's backs played well, but they were not well supported by the rush line which let the '91 men get through. The umpire was not at all strict in regard to off-side play on either side, but his decisions seemed to result more disastrously for '92.
The game opened with the ball in '91's possession. Nothing was gained by the V. A few kicks were exchanged but not much gain was made. Ninety-one gained by the crises-cross trick, but Weld made a kick over and the ball was brought out to the 25 yard line. Weld got the ball from Forbes' kick and made a good rush. McNear carried it still farther, and shortly afterwards Moen was pushed over the line for a touch-down; no goal. Score, 4-0. When the ball was again put in play White made a short gain, but Crosby got the ball out of the scrimmage and made a touchdown from which a goal was kicked. Spectators at the edge of the field claimed they heard White call the ball down, but the score was allowed. Score, 10-0.
Then '92 began to rush better. Henry made good rushes and carried the ball near '91's line. Had '92 been heavier they could have gained the requisite 5 yards by pushing, but instead the ball was given to '91 on off side play. Weld kicked and '92 was given 5 yards for interference with a fair catch. Forbes made a kick over. Kicks were exchanged and the ball went to '92 on four downs. It was passed to Forbes as if for a kick, but he passed it to White, who carried it within five yards of the goal line. Time was called almost immediately after.
In the second half '92 gained 10 yards on the V but could gain no more. On four downs '91 got the ball and rushes by Mason, McNear and Moen carried it forward, only to be returned by rushes of Henry and White. At the end of 15 minutes, time was called.
