The Yale News is responsible for the statement that in all probability the new Yale launch, built by E. T. Copeland of New York, will not be accepted. The launch has been given three trials but in all of them it has failed to show the required speed. The third trial was made on Monday afternoon. The screw of the launch had been changed and the result was a slight increase of speed, but not sufficient to warrant its acceptance. The time averaged four miles in about twenty-one minutes. In other respects the boat is perfectly satisfactory; it sets well in the water and is finely built. The committee who have the matter in charge will decide finally in regard to the matter in a few days.
