We are much surprised to learn that not enough freshmen have yet signed for the scratch races on Thursday to warrant any attempt to provide for a race. The freshmen evidently do not understand what a chance they are allowing to go by. These scratch races take place every year; they are nothing new, and until this year there have always been more men on hand than could be accommodated. As we have said before, it is not essential that a man know anything about the science of rowing, or that he has ever even been in a boat-the object of these races is to get new men acquainted with rowing. We assure each and every man of '94 that it will not be amiss for him to enter for Thursday's races.

The second conference of the series on the study of the Pible takes place this evening. The Bible will be studied from a literary point of view, and there is perhaps no one in the University better prepared to speak on this subject than Professor Kittredge who of late years has devoted much zealous study to his subject after having spent years in preparation. The course has been given in answer to a universal demand for more critical knowledge of the Bible. Whetner the interest in the subject is as advanced here as in some other parts of the country will be shown by the success of this course.
