Appleton Chapel.

The services in Appleton Chapel last evening were conducted by the Rev. George A. Gordon. The text of his see on was from Joshua X 12. We must not, the preacher said, construe as literal this prayer of Johua that the sun may stand still. It is really a prayer not for more light, out for a better understanding of the preciousness of time. With that it shall be as if the sun stood still. The problem for us to solve is how we shall use the time that we have to better advantage. We must use all our life, use it with all our might, and with all the available might of God. For getting and doing good, one day of our life, with all the advantages of the nineteenth century, should be worth a year of the life of the patriachs and prophets.

The choir sang the following selections: Magnificat, by Field; When the Lorg turned again, by Buck; Incline thine ear, by Himmel.
