Editors Daily Crimson:

Owing to the lack of financial assistance from the college this year and last, the Lacrosse Association is in very straightened circumstances. Unless $200 dollars is subscribed and paid in by Friday noon, we shall be obliged to forfeit our regular scheduled game with Lehigh on Saturday. The result of such a forfeiture is obvious: First, Harvard will lose her position as a member of the league; and secondly, she will appear in a very bad light because of the forfeiture.

As a last resort we have consulted certain members of the Faculty, and they have advised us to call a mass meeting to consider the question whether the University wishes to support or to drop lacrosse. Lack of attendance at this meeting will be considered as an expression of the desire of the University that Harvard should discontinue her connection with intercollegiate lacrosse.

The meeting will be held at 1.30 today in Holden Chapel. Below is a statement of the finances by the manager.

H. H. HASKELL, Pres. H. I. A. L. S. GRISWOLD, Capt. H. L. T.

Debt from '88 $315

Cash and unpaid subs $100-$125

Total subscription '89 206 $335

Total subscription '89 125 $335

Trip '89 would need $2.00. A minimum estimate.

EDWARD S. RAWSON, Treas. The expenses of the team this year would amount to $200 (for trip) and $130 already incurred. The subscriptions are $335, five dollars more than the expenses. Last year's debt, however, has been partially paid, thus putting the team behind. A subscription of at least $200 is needed before any trip can be undertaken. E. S. R.
