The demand for a larger library in the German department has increased so perceptibly of late that, at the instigation of Professor Francke, several men have undertaken to form a special German library. For this purpose a meeting of all those interested in German or who desire to promote in any way the welfare of the German department, will be held on Tuesday evening for the purpose of considering the possibility of raising funds to carry out the scheme. A sum of five hundred dollars has already been given by Mr. Villard, of New York, towards defraying the expenses, and with that as a basis there seems to be every reason to hope that enough money can be obtained to start a library if those interested take hold of the matter with a will.
Our heartiest wishes for success go with the innovators, since we feel that from the very fact of the students themselves having assumed the responsibility of the scheme, the need of the improvement is sound.
