The announcement of the spring scratch races of the Harvard Canoe Club calls attention to one of the most energetic and popular organizations in college. Following the admirable spirit of liberality shown by other college organizations, both athletic and literary, during the past year, the club has opened one of the events in today's races to the Puritan Canoe Club. Owing to this fact and judging from the success of the races last year, and from the steadily growing interest which is taken in canoeing at Harvard, there is every reason to suppose that this afternoon's races will be well worth seeing. The course has been laid out in front of the Harvard boat house, and as this makes it possible to see the canoes from start to finish without the slightest difficulty, a large number of enthusiastic spectators ought to be present.
