The winter games, which were held in the armory of the Second Regiment, C. N. G., on March 15 and 16, proved very enjoyable although unsuccessful as regards the breaking of records. The entry list included men from Harvard, Princeton, Amherst, Columbia, Williams, and from most of the eastern amateur athletic associations.
On March 15 the following men went to the training table for the nine, together with a few who have gone since that time: Poole, '91, McClung, '92, Dalzell, '91, Traver, '89 S., McBride, '90, S., Calhoun, '91 Noyes, '89, (capt.). Cushing, '91, G., McClintock, '90, Heffelfinger, '91 S., W. McClintock, '91, Day, '89 S., N. McClintock, '91, Graves, '91.
The list of speakers for the junior exhibition were announced last week: R. S. Baldwin, John Crosby, W. A. DeCamp, W. W. Ellsworth, L. S. Has lam, G. A. Hurd, J. D. Jackson, Yale Kneeland. The contest is for the income of $2600 and the speaking will take place April 11.
On last Wednesday a university indignation meeting was held to adopt resolutions denouncing the act of pulling over the Silliman statue.
Yale played her first baseball game at New Haven last Saturday against Plainville. The field work was extremely loose, and it was evident that much improvement must be made in all the branches, and particularly in team work, if Yale wishes to make a creditable showing this year. The second game was played on Wednesday against a neighboring team in which a slight improvement was noticed.
The annual meeting of the University Tennis Association was held on Tuesday at which the following officers were elected; president, Sherwood, '90, vice-president, Post, '90, and secretary and treasurer, Howland '90.
The University crew are hard at work and are rowing daily on the harbor. The men now in training are: Woodruff '89 (captain) Hartwell '89, S, Brewster '91, Caldwell, T. S., Allen '90 S., Ferris '91, Harrison, '90, Isham '91, Newell '90, Rogers '90, S. Thompson will undoubtedly hold his position as coxswain.
