The announcement that this evening's dinner will offer an opportunity for the free discussion of the present athletic situation is welcome news to all for while this privilege has been fully open before, there are yet several important phases of the question deserving attention which have come into prominence since the Yale-Princeton game, and which have not, therefore, received anything like careful attention. If is, of course, foreign to the purpose of the dinner that any definite move whatsoever should be made-that is at once undesirable and out of the question; but the hope is entertained that there may be a thoroughly free expression of opinion on any phase of the athletic question. In this way, and in this way only, can we prepare for the developments of the coming season. Harvard has already fixed a policy on herself which it will be for her best interests to understand in its every phase if she would not compromise herself in future action.
