The playing of the freshman team in yesterday's game shows two things; first, that the eleven does not realize that the date of the Yale game is near; and, second, that the men on the team have not trained conscientiously. The eleven has been carefully coached since the season opened, but such an exhibition of high tackling and fumbling is not often seen.

It was evident, moreover, that the freshmen have not been taught to feel that when a man presents himself as a candidate for an athletic team here in college, it is his bounden duty, from that time on until the team dissolves, to train faithfully at all times. If the members of the freshman team had understood this and had acted accordingly, some of them would not have appeared so unfit to play as they did yesterday. The team must feel the size of their task and must know that only work can bring victory. The time is now short but the decided change for the better which we look for will bring about astonishing results.
