At a special meeting of the Yale corporation it was practically decided to establish a musical department in the university. A committee was appointed consisting of Dr. Y. L. Walker, of Hartford, Dr. T. T. Munger of New Haven, and T. Sloane of New York to make the necessary investigations and arrangements. They will first try to secure the endowment for a professorship. It is understood that the funds for this will be furnished by the Fairchild County Alumni Association, which recently appointed a committee to confer with the corporation and recommmend the action which has just been taken. The following degrees were conferred by the corporation: Ph. B., Frank Dodge Leffingwell and Dariford Newton Barney Sturgis; M. A., Evans Woollen; Ph. D., the Rev. William W. McLane, and Alfred Mandy Wilson; D. D., (honorary) the Rev. Charles Ray Palmer of Bridgeport.
