Every year sees valuable additions to the lectures of our university, and at no time have these additions been more numerous than at present. Among others, during the coming winter an interesting course will be given on German Literature which will cover in a cursory manner the whole ground of German Literature from the middle ages down to the present century, dwelling most emphatically on the most striking features of this development. By way of pointing out the relation of the literary life of the people to their society and politics it is intended that the lectures shall comprehend the development of the nation as a whole. The course although intended mainly for freshmen, is designed as a general introduction to the study of German Literature for any student who may be interested in the language. We therefore commend it to the attention of the students. The lectures will be given as announced in the calendar.
