It is a melancholy state of things when only a few men present themselves as candidates for the freshman lacrosse team. Here is one of the best opportunities for the freshmen to enter into a healthy and pleasurable sport, yet, notwithstanding all the inducements offered, few men take advantage of them. There are even yet some things that freshmen do not know, and it is a kindness to point out to them that the freshman teams of today will be the 'varsity teams two or three years hence. If our freshman teams are poor, we need have no hope for future intercollegiate victories. Ninety-two, you will be responsible for the successes or defeats of the near future, so seize your opportunities while you have them.
