The new and, as we think, improved appearance of the CRIMSON is the result of long deliberation on the part of the CRIMSON board. The experiment is possibly a risky one, but we have determined to give it a trial. We can but fail, and should we do so we shall not be ashamed to acknowledge it. We have made the change at some sacrifice, since the extra column of reading matter on the front page deprives us of a whole column of valuable advertisements. It also calls for a much greater amount of work from the editors of the paper, and this, especially in the winter season, is no light matter. But nevertheless we have decided to make the change, believing it to be for the best, and trusting to the generosity and good will of the students and graduates to make up in subscriptions what we have lost financially, and to come forward with contributions to help fill the extra column. It has always been a matter of sorrow to us that the graduates of our university should take such little interest in the college press. But we shall try to make our columns interesting to the graduates as well as to the undergraduates, and we trust that our efforts may meet with their reward in the shape of added subscriptions and literary contributions from the graduates of Harvard. To the undergraduates we would say that all contributions will be cheerfully and gratefully received, and whether published or not, will receive careful attention. We have room on our editorial board for two editors from the junior class, three from the sophomore and one from the freshman, and we advise and urge all who think they have any "scribbling" ability to send us specimens of their work.
