The members of the 'varsity crew have adopted a new cap. It is white with two oars embroidered in crimson crossed on the front.

On Thursday the sophomore crew of Bowdoin College beat the freshman crew of the same college in a one-mile four-oared shell race.

Professor Palmer will deliver the anniversary address at the Abbot Female Academy of Andover on June 12.

The following have been elected to the O. K. from '89: W. D. Clark, P. F. Hall, Hight, J. P. Morgan, jr., Newell and Zinkeisen. E. Wardman was elected an honorary member.

The final examination in Physics C will be held on Saturday, June 9, at the Jefferson Physical Laboratory, room 41, at 11 a. m., instead of as previously announced.

Yesterday's Post contained the opinions of several Harvard professors and overseers on the Democratic platform. The sentiments expressed were very favorable.

There was an exciting challenge race on Holmes last night between Mr. T. S. Hathaway, '89, and Mr. C. D. Wetmore, '89. The distance was one hundred yards, and the race was won easily by Wetmore in 13 2-5 seconds.

The rooms for the examination in Fine Arts 4 have been announced as follows: Abbott-Hutchinson, Sever 37; Jackson-Overton, Sever 35; Paine-P. S. Sears, Sever 30; Shattuck-Wright, Sever 29.

The Dante prize of $100 has been awarded to G. R. Carpenter, A. B., Rogers Fellow, for an essay on "The interpretation and reconciliation of the different accounts of his experience after the death of Beatrice, given by Dante in the Vita Nuova, and the Convito."

A brass band (?) holding forth from the roof of a horse car which was covered with advertisements setting forth the merits of the "New Grand Opera House" performances in Boston, aroused the inhabitants of Little's Block and Holyoke yesterday afternoon by its dulcet bugle-notes. In response to the cries of "More! more!" the band had just started out anew with great vigor when a pail of water from one of the windows above so disconcerted them that they retreated in confusion, and the quavering note of the horns died away in the distance, much to the relief of every one.
