At a meeting of the CRIMSON board yesterday, G. R. Payson, '90, was elected a business manager.

The shooting club has a competitive shoot this afternoon at the grounds in Watertown.

The students of Hobart College have adopted the practice of wearing the academic cap and gown.

The freshman nine defeated the Technology freshmen yesterday on the Union grounds, Boston, by a score of 15 to 3.

The Shooting Club has been given a cup to be awarded for excellence in "all-round" shooting with the shotgun, pistol and rifle. The shot-gun competition will be held at Watertown this afternoon, when each competitor will shoot at fifty clay birds. The pistol and rifle competitions will be held at Walnut Hill on May 26. Entries are free.

The presidency of the Rensselae Polytechnic Institute of Troy, which has been vacant for two years, has at last been filled by the election of the Hon. John H. Peck.

The undergraduates of Princeton University have undertaken the expense of sending one of their number as a missionary to India. The fund subscribed reaches $1600.

The Glee Club gave a very enjoyable concert in the Yard last evening. A large crowd congregated in front of Matthews to hear them sing, and greeted their efforts with great enthusiasm.

Mr. George Lyman Kittidge, professor of Latin at the Phillips Exeter Academy, has been appointed instructor of English. Mr. Kittridge will also assist in some of Professor Childs courses.

The following named men from the Princeton Athletic Association have entered the Cedarhurst races which are to be held May 12: Baker, '90, half-mile; Dohm, '90, quarter-mile; King, '88, the 100 yards and the 220 yards for collegians.

The team match between the Shooting Club and the Jamaica Plain Gun Club, on Saturday last, was won by the latter club-134 to 112. The Harvard team showed up poorly, and the members must do better work if they hope to win Thursday's match against Pennsylvania.

Last Tuesday's New York Herald contained communications from a large number of college presidents on the subject of Intercollegiate Athletic Contests, called forth by the recent action of the Harvard Overseers. The opinions on the question seemed to be about equally divided.

The graduating class of the Law School have elected B. G. Davis, '85, secretary-treasurer. The practice of electing this officer was established by the class of '87 in accordance with a suggestion of the Association of Alumni, and will probably be followed regularly hereafter.
