Harvard vs. Mystic

The following account was crowded out of yesterday's issue:-

The cricket team played the Mystic club at Medford on Saturday and won on the score of the first innings by 47 runs.

Harvard won the toss and decided to go to the bat. The batting of the team as a whole was very steady. Brown got the top score, 44, by hard, clean hitting. Sullivan also played well for his 14. The bowling of Mystic was well on the wicket, that of O'Hair especially so. The fielding of the home XI was also good.

Owing to the good bowling of Ellis and Brown, Mystic was unable to put together more than 37 runs, only one man making double figures. Being more than forty per cent. behind Harvard, the home team was forced to follow on, and did much better in their second venture than in their first, as at the drawing of stumps they had made 37 runs for a loss of six wickets. The fielding of Harvard was very good, especially that of Bayer, who made several pretty catches, one after a long run. Altogether the XI showed improvement, due, no doubt, to the practice of the last few days. The team plays its next game to-morrow with Longwood, on Holmes. Below is the score:-
