Mr. Hayes has been chosen one of the judges at the Goddard Prize Speaking to be held at Tufts College on June 12th.

Yale plays Princeton at Princeton this afternoon; and Harvard plays Columbia at the polo grounds this morning.

Work on the Chittenden library building of Yale is being rapidly carried on and the structure will soon be finished.

The Yale Law School appointments for the Townsend prize speaking are: W. T. Booth, J. M. Blakely, R. W. Stewart, B. B. Beckman. The speeches will be made at the Law School Commencement, the winner receiving a prize of $100.

F. L. Codman, of the '90 ball nine, has broken a small bone in his ankle and will be unable to play ball again this spring.

Mr. Bendelari, formerly assistant professor of Italian at Yale, will be one of the instructors in the history department next year.

Dr. Crawford Howell Toy, professor of Oriental languages, and Miss Nanny I. Saunders, daughter of the Rev. Dr. R. M. Saunders, of Norfolk, Va, were married at Norfolk, May 23.

The corner stone of the Catholic University was laid Thursday afternoon by Cardinal Gibbons with imposing ceremonies. The site of this institution is two miles north of Washington.

The Music Hall promenade concerts are even more popular than they were last year. A new programme of light music is finely given every evening by an orchestra of fifty, under the leadership of Mr. Franz Kneisel.

Attendance is required at nine-tenths of all the exercises in each branch of study at Amherst, and when the limit is surpassed the student is notified officially by the registrar of the college. If any more cuts are taken after notification, the student goes before the president of the college and is reprimanded. A student may save all his cuts till the end of the year and thus add about a week to his summer vacation.
