In a recent interview, President Knox, of Lafayette College, while admitting that Lafayette is in straightened financial circumstance denies the report that the college will be closed immediately unless some friend comes to its assistance with pecuniary aid.
The Wesleyan student begins to count up his "cuts" as the examinations approach; and if he finds that he has been absent from ten per cent. of the regular exercises of any subject, he will be obliged to pass a preliminary examination before being allowed to try the regular one.
Dr. M. E. Wadsworth, who has recently been appointed State geologist of Michigan, is a native of Maine and a graduate of Bowdoin College, class of 1869. For a dozen years he has been connected with the Agassiz Museum and from Harvard in 1879, received the degree of doctor of philosophy.
