Johns Hopkins University is short of funds to defray its current expenses on account of the failure of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad to pay a dividend, the income to the University from this source having been about $120,000 annually.
A series of experiments with a view to determining the chemical constitution of the sun is being performed in the physical laboratory. Comparisons are made between photographs of any portion of the solar spectrum with the spectrum given by the burning of any substance where existence in the sun is suspected.
