Professor G. L. Goodale will this evening deliver the ninth of his course of Lowell Institute lectures on "Forests and Forest Products." The subject will be "The Cultivation of Forests."
The judges appointed to read the essays handed in for the Toppan prize were: Dr. Davis R. Dewey, Prof. S. M. MacVane and Joseph B. Warner, Esq. No prize was awarded.
At the weekly moot court which will be held at the Law School this afternoon. J. J. Storrow and R. D. Weston Smith will speak for the plaintiff; E. T. Sanford and M. C. Hobbs for the defendant. Professor Thayer will preside at the trial.
A tug-of-war team from the Blues of the Second Regiment, C. N. G, will pull against a light-weight team from Yale this evening at 8 o'clock in the college gymnasium. The team from Yale will be Casement, Crall, Lowe, Loveland (anchor).
The second annual exhibition of the Technology Photographic Society opened Monday at the institute. The exhibit is much larger than last year, numbering between 300 and 400 pictures. The pictures are hung on movable screens and arranged, each exhibitor's group separately. The subjects include almost every one known in photography: landscapes, marines, interiors and "lifes."
Rev. Dr. Lyman Abbott of Brooklyn, editor of the Christian Union and pastor of Plymouth Church, has been asked by Prof. Peabody and the Preachers to the University to spend an hour or two at Wadsworth House 1, where students may visit him. He will be there to-day, Wednesday, from 9-11 a. m. Dr. Abbott is widely known for his wisdom and breadth of views, and many students will welcome this opportunity of knowing him.
