EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON:- There appeared in your columns yesterday a virulent and unwarranted attack on the examination monitors. The writer must have had indigestion, or, what is more likely, was suffering from the apprehension of being dropped. All the monitors with whom I have came in contact have been very gentlemanly and considerate. I don't see why a proctor should not read the books if he chooses, and if he finds something amusing why he should not smile or even "snort and chuckle" if he likes. I am sure I would do so if I were in his place. It seems to me the individual who wrote the attack yesterday morning showed only his own disagreeable feeling toward monitors and not those of the majority of the men in college, and certainly not of the freshmen who have not yet learned to assume the overbearing captious attitude of most of the upper-classmen.
