Harvard Freshmen, 40; Groton Academy, 4.

The Harvard Freshman Eleven defeated the Groton Academy team at Groton yesterday by a score of forty to four. The grounds were in unusually good condition, and the treatment which the freshmen received was most cordial.

Two half hours were played, the score at the end of the first half standing 16-0. Eight touchdowns were made by the freshmen, as follows: Brooks five, Curtis one, Baker one, Forbes one, from which Forbes succeeded in kicking only two goals, the high wind interfering considerably with his attempts. Groton was forced to make two safeties. Her only points were scored by Robb who made a fine rush along the side line for about thirty-five yards, and scored a touchdown. The freshmen played in good form, their blocking being especially good. The tackling also showed great improvement. The Groton team was heavy but the rushers were weak in dropping on the ball, and the backs fumbled badly. The following men composed the teams:

Harvard Freshmen.- Wrenn, Newell, Travis, Hunt, Heard, Draper, Curtis; Neff, quarter-back; Brooks and Baker, half-backs; Forbes, full-back.

Groton Academy.- Tremaine, (Polk), Emmons, Meredith, Bartlett, Peabody, Scott, Ives; Burgess, quarter-back; Robb, (captain), and Mullens, (Cochrane, half-backs; Thayer, full-back.

Mr. J. Smith, '92, was referee.
