Tennis Tournament.

Play in the tennis tournament was finished yesterday, the singles being won by Chase, '91, and the doubles by W. L. Kingsley, M. S. and W. L. Jennings, '89. Chase will now have to play Sears for the championship of the college in singles. In the doubles, Snow, '88, last year's champion with T. S. Tailer, '89, is no longer in college, so that Kingsley and Jennings are declared champions of the college, by virtue of their victory in the tournament.

The match between Chase and Lee was won entirely on its merits. Lee took the lead in the first set; with the score 4 to 1 against him, Chase changed his style of play, returning to Lee's right instead of his left hand. He won the next five games and set. In the third set, Lee played a better game and won by a score of 8 to 6, only, however, to lose the fourth set and the match.

In the doubles, the postponed match between Kingsley and Jennings and Tailer and Chase resulted in a victory for the former.

In the last round. Orcutt, '92 and Potter, '92, met Kingsley and Jennings and were defeated three sets to one.

The match was not devoid of interest, however. The defeated side played steadily for three sets but were apparently disheartened in the last. They evinced a decided tendency to get nervous, serving and playing hurriedly; with a little more experience they will do more justice to themselves. The winners played a slow, steady, and at times brilliant game and will deserve the title of champions,
