Bangs, '91, has been elected secretary and treasurer of the sparring club.
Jeremiah Smith, jr., has been appointed manager of the freshman eleven.
Greenleaf, '92, and Davis, '91, will represent Harvard at the Berkeley games to be held in New York.
Mr. H. N. Herman, '89, has been obliged to leave college on account of ill health. He will return next year.
There will be only one recitation in N. H. 8 next week. This will be on Wednesday, as there are no appointments for Monday or Friday.
The H. A. A. decided yesterday to send nine members to the athletic games to be held in New Haven on the 20th inst.
The third ten of the Institute of 1770 from '91 are: Leiter, Keene, Codman, Barlow, Mariner, Geary, Weld, Amory, Wendell, Emerson.
The officers of the O. K. for the second term are as follows: President, C. Hunneman; secretary, O. Prescott; treasurer, J. P. Morgan; librarian, P. F. Hall.
Rev. H. P. Nichols, of Trinity church of New Haven, gave a reception to the Rev. Dr. Lawrence of Harvard, who addressed the Yale Berkeley Association last evening.
Chauncey M. Depew was enthusiastically greeted by Yale men on the occasion of his speech on "The Tariff Question" in New Haven, Thursday.
President Carter, of Williams, has received a gift of $20,000 to found a library fund, in honor of James Ruthven Adriance of the class of '78, who died a year after graduation.
There is evidently a lack both of enthusiasm and funds at the headquarters of the rival democratic and republican state committees, as no final arrangements have been made by either party for a torchlight procession in Boston. It is no probable that either procession can take place before October 31.
A report has been circulated that Tufts would not play football this year, but this rumor has proved to be false. Tufts will be in no league, but will play practice games the same as last year. R. D. Burnam is captain and B. W. Davis, manager, either of whom may be addressed for dates.
Rev. Theodore C. Williams, who is at present conducting prayers, will preach in Appleton Chapel tomorrow evening. Mr. Williams took his degree at Harvard several years ago and afterwards graduated from the Divinity School. He is pastor of All Souls Church in New York, a leading Unitarian conjuration. Dr. Bellows was pastor of the church at the time of his death.
The following football games have already been arranged by the manager of the freshman eleven: Newton High School at Newtonville, Oct. 13; Cambridge High School at Cambridge, Oct. 17 and 23; Phillips Exeter Academy at Exeter, Oct. 27; Phillips Academy at Andover, October 29. A game with the Boston Latin School at Brookline will probably be played October 16. Three or four other games will probably be arranged before the game with the Yale freshman, which is to be played at Cambridge the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
