The permanent captain of the freshman football team has been chosen, and on him depends, in a great measure, the success or failure of the team. He is a man who understands the game thoroughly, and there is no doubt that he will devote all his energies towards strengthening the team. As has been said before, the candidates for the eleven are unusually light, but a number of them have had considerable experience in playing before coming to college. They have been doing good work during the past week under the direction of Captain Sears, Sears, and the outlook for a strong team is by no means dubious. On the other hand, the opposing freshman eleven at Yale this year is unusually strong, and it has had the advantage of beginning practice a week earlier. These advantages can be overcome only by the hardest kind of training, and it is this earnest work which the freshman class and the whole college is expecting from Captain Brooks and his men.
