Freshman Class Meeting.

The freshman class met at 4 P. M. yesterday in Massachusetts Hall with President Rantoul in the chair. The meeting was marked with such enthusiasm that the entire absence of parliamentary rule passed completely unnoticed. The following were nominated as marshals for the torchlight procession: Clark, Cromwell, fiske, Kidder, Rowley, Thompson and Watriss. After the tellers, Messrs. Cabot and Robbins, had been appointed, some one suggested that the class had signified no intention of marching in any procession. The hint was eagerly caught up and it was voted by a large majority to march with the Republican procession on Oct. 24. The freshmen then with due modesty, apparently thinking it presumption to vote for three candidates, limited themselves to one each, and it was decided that the three candidates having the largest number of votes should be considered elected. Mr. Kidder received 18 votes, Mr. Thompson 10, and Messrs. Cromwell and Watriss 9 each. Messrs. Kidder and Thompson were declared elected and after great excitement Mr. Cromwell was chosen to fill the third place. The following resolutions were then offered and passed by a large majority: Resolved, that in voting to take part in the political demonstration to occur soon, the class of '92 in no way expresses sympathy with the party in whose honor the proposed demonstration is to be held; bat that the students, irrespective of party, simply desire to share in a demonstration which shall reflect credit upon the college and the class of '92, and prove a pleasant occasion long to be remembered by us.

A resolution thanking Capt. J. H. Sears for his efforts in behalf of the class was passed unanimously. Another resolution was then offered that '92 march with the party which needed it the most. This proposal called for so much serious reflection that it was lost in the mazes of the freshman intellect before it could be put to vote. The only solution of the problem that could be suggested was an immediate adjournment and the meeting abruptly broke up.
