EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON.- In yesterday's issue you spoke of the prospects of the new year and urged each one to do all that he could toward bringing victory to Harvard this year. In the last two years Yale has been victorious everywhere, and why? Be cause she does not put off until the last moment what ought to be done just as soon as the college year opens. Look at her crew, the candidates returned to college last week and devoted the last half of the Christmas recess to work. They spend the entire Easter recess there in training. They intend to have the odd number this year in favor of Yale, if hard work will do it.
Her base-ball captain has had the freshmen come out and practice, and what is the result? A pitcher has been found that promises to be superior to Stagg. Yale does not need a pitcher, Harvard does, but Harvard is waiting for the pitcher to come all developed. Yale is bringing out the raw material and developing it. In the Mott Haven team, Yale has been bringing out the strength of the freshman class and has already some good athletes who promise to help bring the cup if Harvard does not arise and work. Nothing comes without work, so either the various teams must commence to practice or the good resolutions of the new year will come to naught. X.
