We publish to-day the situation of affairs in the Mott Haven cup controversy which has lately arisen. The loss of the records of the association show lamentable negligence on the part of some one; a search ought to be made for the missing journal, for it cannot be certain, at least from what is now known, that it is certainly lost. If, however, no minutes can be found, the question should be settled in some other way at an early date. The general understanding throughout the college world is that Harvard owns the cup, and we do not believe that any sincere objections will be made by any college to the final granting of the cup to us.
