Note and Comment.

The following extract from the Yale News will show the feeling prevalent at Yale in regard to Columbia's withdrawal from the College League:

The chief reasons for regretting the resignation of Columbia from the College Base-Ball League seems to us to be the necessity it involves of a reorganization of the League next year. The old question of a triangular or quadrangular association will have to be fought over again and if the present league is to be continued, it will be a matter of no little difficulty to fill Columbia's place satisfactorily. As to Columbia's position in the matter, we believe no fair-minded person can call it in question. While it is now evident that her admission to the League was a mistake, it is no less evident that her management have done all in their power to fulfil their obligations. This we think is clearly shown by their offer to attempt insure the other associations against any loss through their resignation, by the division of the entire balance in their treasury. In conclusion we would say that it is extremely unlikely that Columbia's place in the league will be filled this season, as no college club could be found who will be willing to assume Columbia's schedule and record of games played, and it would be impossible for Harvard Princeton and Yale to play, in addition to their scheduled games, four games with the new club.
