Fact and Rumor.

Rev. Edward Everett Hale conducted services at Cornell last Sunday.

It is said that Hunt, centre-fielder on the Yale nine never played ball before this year.

The new board of editors of the Cornell Sun for the ensuing year have been elected.

The game with the Beacons to-day, has been postponed owing to the fact that they could not get up a team.

Yale holds five intercollegiate records in track athletics, which is one more than the number which Harvard holds.

The game between the Brown and Harvard freshmen which was to have been played yesterday, was postponed on account of rain.

The Holy Cross College nine offered the Harvard's one hundred dollars and expenses to play them at Worcester, but the offer was refused. - Ex.

The Beacons won a game from Phillips Academy of Exeter, Monday, by a score of 6 to 5. Costly errors of Exeter gave the game to the Beacons.

Mr. C. T. Sempers has been elected President, and Mr. William Barnes, Jr., Secretary and Treasurer of the Philosophical Club for the coming year,

McKean, centre-fielder of the Freshman Nine who sprained his ankle in the last '90-'89 game has been spending the last ten days at home. His injuries will prevent his playing this season.

The second 'Varsity crew is now rowing as follows: Stroke, Alexander, '87; 7, Parker, '89; 6, Perkins, '89; 5, Hale, '88; 4, Markoe. '89. 3, Knowles, '87; 2 Hebard, '89; Bow, Knapp, '87.

The genial countenance of the old and trusted friend of this University, Mr. Daniel Pratt, was visible last evening on Main street. His new and valuable treatise on the moon's phase's is now ready.

The Nine management has received no word from Yale in regard to the admission of Williams into the College League. Such action at this late day would undoubtedly be opposed by both Princeton and Harvard.

No college team has scored against our lacrosse twelve this year. The scores were as follows: Harvard 7. Stevens 0; Harvard 3 Princeton 0; Harvard 4, N. Y. University 0.

C. H. Taylor, '90, wishes it to be understood that he did not row in the race for the Thayer Cup last Monday. After his oar was broken he withdrew from the race and rowed slowly over the course, regardless of time.

Considerable dissatisfaction has been expressed because the Glee Club did not sing in the yard Monday night as was announced Monday. Several parties of ladies and gentlemen who had come to enjoy the singing waited in the yard in the rain for a half-an-hour or more after the time announced for the concert, and then left disappointed. It is to be hoped the Glee Club had good reasons for thus disappointing so many people.

The Brown and Trinity nines played on Monday last. The game resulting in a victory for Trinity by a score of 6 to 1. The Browns played the best game of the year, for them. The following is the Globe's opinion of Monday's game: - The game was close but not exciting, on account of the most inexcusable errors, poorest coaching and worst base running of the year. Each side tried to outdo the other's poor plays.
