HARVARD '90, 12; PURITANS, 2.

Saturday afternoon, the Freshmen defeated the Puritans by a score of 12 to 2. In the absence of the 'Varsity, the the game was played on Holmes. '90 was first at bat. Codman was given his base on balls, was advanced a base by a wild pitch and came in on Slade's single. Slade stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on McKean's put out, second to first. Piper got his base on balls, stole second and came in on successive errors by second and catcher. Vila flied out, and this closed the scoring for the first inning. In the second, Wardner made a run on errors by catcher and third. The runs in the fifth were made by errors. In the eighth by five errors and three hits, '90 scored five runs.

The Puritans were shut out till the eighth inning, when errors by '90 and a hit enabled them to score. They were unable to hit Sabine and the hits which they made were scattered.

'90 played a sharp fielding game and but for two unfortunate errors in the eighth inning would have blanked their opponents. At the bat, Howe, Richardson and Codman did good work. Slade played well behind the bat, having but one passed ball. The score:
