Encouraged by a large audience, frequent applause and occasional cheers, the Lacrosse team beat Stevens 7 goals to nothing on Saturday afternoon.
First Goal. - The ball was placed at 3.40. Stevens secured the draw, and did some active work near our posts. The ball went to centre, thence to the attack, and was kept around Stevens' goal until secured by Dudley, who put it between the flags. Time, 7 minutes.
Second Goal. - Ziz-zag passing by Towle and Blodgett to Hale, who scored. Time, 7 minutes.
Third Goal. - Stevens braced after the previous goal; McClean made a rush, and the visitors homes got the rubber inside of our defence. Point and cover turned it aside before any damage was done. Towle finally rushed from centre and passed to Dudley, who shot successfully. Time, 9 minuets.
Fourth Goal. - Towle did very clever work before this goal, securing the ball at centre again. Gardner rushed from left centre, the attack drawing their men away from him, and made a clean shot. Time, 8 minutes.
Fifth Goal. - Secured by Dudley after good team play all round. Stevens' men were all crowded into her defence field. Time, 17 minutes.
Sixth Goal. - Tipped in by Gardner from behind and swiped thorough by Harding. Time, 7 minutes.
Seventh Goal. - Like the sixth worked in by the attack and swiped through by Harding. Time, 4 minutes.
After the fourth goal our attack had the ball most of the time, and worked it back and forth for openings.
