We are glad that card-playing is not prevalent at Bates. Such an operation may do for gamblers and black legs, but for honest, intelligent young men, it is not the thing. It may do for the starved in soul and intellect, but college students should find some amusement better fitted to their station than shuffling a pack of greasy cards. - Ex.
