EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON:- You published an editorial yesterday complaining of the obstinacy the faculty has shown in refusing to extend the midwinter vacation. It seems to me that, after seeing year after year that men who live at a distance from Cambridge leave two or three days before the recess begins and return two or three after it ends, the faculty would see the advisability of extending the vacation. Whether they do or not, men will continue to cut several days at each end of such a short Christmas vacation as is given us this year; and anyone who views the subject in a fairminded way cannot blame them for doing so. The month of January is a time of hard preparation for the midyears, and two weeks is only too short a time in which a man can get braced for the strain of it.
