EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON: Last year the subject of flooding Holmes Field was discussed in your columns at some length, and although the conclusion was reached that the scheme was practicable, the idea had been advanced so late in the winter that it was thought best to wait till this fall before putting the plan into operation. I take the opportunity of calling to mind this scheme thus early, that lack of time may be no impediment in the way of its active execution. The authorities of Cambridge agreed to furnish the amount of water necessary,-which it was seen, would not be very great-at a reasonable price. A very small subscription from the men in college would amply cover all expense incurred throughout the entire winter. The advantages of the plan are too obvious to need discussion, and the universal desire expressed each year that we might have a skating pond nearer college than Fresh Pond, is a sufficient warrant for the undertaking of the plan. The proper organization to move in the matter is without doubt the athletic association. The officers of this society have always been prompt to respond to the expressed wishes of its members, and I am sure the present demand will meet with no denial from them. Any ideas that any one may have on the subject should be advanced freely that the movers in the undertaking may profit by advice and experience.
