We known that we echo the opinion of every one who witnessed the game with Wesleyan last Saturday when we say that Captain Holden deserves the highest credit which an athletic captain can receive, for the energy he has displayed and which has resulted in putting foot-ball at Harvard upon a scientific basis. Material has never been wanting here. All that was needed was perseverance and some mind that could plan. This has been found and no longer can the championship in foot-ball be considered without any mention of Harvard.

Our chances are fair, nothing more. Our improvement has been very great, but it must not be forgotten that our inferiority to Princeton and Yale was likewise great, and that much abor had to be accomplished and put us in a class which could compete with these. This has been accomplished. Everything which is learned from now on ought to make our chances even of winning at least one of the games. We can look forward to this, and from all appearances there is little to make us discouraged for our contest with Yale, even if beaten by Princeton. The men played earnestly and well on Saturday and deserve the congratulations of the college.
