The Yale Crew.

The Yale crew is already beginning to get into shape to meet Harvard next spring.

Captain Stevenson will coach the crew, and a more earnest coach Yale has not had for many a day. It is believed that "Bob" Cook will look after their training, and ex-Captain John Rogers will also render valuable assistance. There is much valuable material this year in the freshman class, and in the recent rushes they showed that there was plenty of grit and muscle. The members do not propose to take a "back seat" if they can help it. Many of them already give promise of being exceptionally good oarsmen, and they are willing to work. They have already and intend in the future to practice running at "hare and hounds," and will exercise on the chest weights, Indian clubs, dumb bells, etc. Besides all this they take a two or three mile run every day when the weather will permit.

All this is extremely necessary if the project of going to England to row with Oxford is entertained. If they go there it will take from $6,000 to $10,000, and the Yale alumni don't want to go to that expense unless they are sure they can send over a winning crew. If Yale is not dispirited and disheartened this year at foot-ball, and if the University crew shows up in good form the English boys many have a chance to test the excellence of the Yale crew.- N. Y.
