At the next meeting of the Yale Assembly the following will be the subject of the debate. "Resolved-That optional studies should be introduced in the second year of the college course."

Students who wish to serve as monitors if opportunities occur are invited to make written application to the Dean stating the elective and prescribed courses which they are to attend.

A movement, already partially successful, is on foot in England to establish a Non-Conformist college in Oxford. It is to be known as "Mansfield College."- Exchange.

The sophomores of Columbia College held a mass meeting on Wednesday afternoon, at which it was decided to abolish the cane-rush between the sophomores and freshmen. A member of last year's freshmen class recently died from injuries received in the can rush with '89, and several others were seriously injured. This prompted the action of '90, and the faculty have expressed their high appreciation of the sophomores' good sense.

The Yale News censures the candidates of the freshman football team in not coming out to practice on the field during a rainstorm. It expresses the nope that no one will ever have the opportunity again of saying that '91 is a fair weather foot-ball class. It would be well for our freshmen to bear this in mind and play football, rain or shine, as they will hereafter at New Haven.
