J. M. Paton, '84, has been appointed professor of Latin at Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vt.

A. B. Houghton, '86, is at present studying in Berlin, and is taking great interest in the development of socialism.

M. Loeb, '83, is studying chemistry under Bunsen in Heidelberg this winter.

A. T. Dudley, '87, is engaged as director of the gymnasium and instructor of Latin at Exeter.

G. P. Baker, '87, is ranching in New Mexico.

R. W. Keep, '87, is studying at the University of Berlin.

M. D. Mitchell, '87, is engaged on the staff of the Boston Advertiser.

J. S. W. Morton, '87, is studying law at Washington.

J. H. B. Easton, Harvard's famous anchor, will not return to Cambridge, as he studying law in Boston.

The Volunteer crossed the line yesterday two miles in advance of the Thistle, thus winning the America's cup.

Professor J. W. Churchill, of Andover, the distinguished reader, will preach at Prospect-street Church tomorrow at 10.30 a. m. and 7.30 p. m. Professor Churchill is a graduate of Harvard.

There were a large number of men out yesterday afternoon practising. There were several lively scrimmages, the men were in good condition, and there is no reason why Harvard should not put an eleven in the field this year worthy of any fee.

Stagg has been elected captain of the Yale nine.

Willard Snowden, Columbia '90, died in August from injuries received in the cane rush between '89 and '90 last November.

The new chapel at St. Paul's school, erected by voluntary contributions, at a cost of $100,000, is nearing completion.
