Too much credence has of late been placed in the rumors of discontent and discouragement among the members of the Yale crew. It was only a couple of years ago when the same sort of trouble which is brewing now broke out, but the outcome of it was the best 'varsity crew that Yale had ever put upon the water. In spite of all these reports of the Yale crew being exceptionally poor at the present time, early in April many eminent boating authorities predicted an exceptionally good crew in every respect. Even with such a crew as Harvard has, we will be greatly mistaken if both races which are to be rowed at New London this year are not as stubbornly contested as any which have ever been rowed. "Cave canem," as the Italians used jocosely to remark; which freely translated means, Beware of the facetious newspaper correspondent.
